Film screenings to be held to celebrate major holidays

Films which will be shown include “Maika – Cô bé đến từ hành tinh khác” (Maika-The girl from another galaxy), documentaries “Trở về miền ký ức” (Return to the memory) and “Lửa từ thành cổ” (Fire from the citadel), as well as cartoons “Bạch Đằng nổi sóng” (Bach Dang Wharf) and “Giải cứu bò con” (Rescuing calves).

“Maika – Cô bé đến từ hành tinh khác” (Maika-The girl from another galaxy) tells the tale of Hung, a boy whose mother dies. He then withdraws into a life of solitude until he meets Maika, a girl from another world looking for friends on Earth. 

Maika was inspired by a character of the same name from the Slovakian children’s TV series Spadla z oblakov, or “The Girl Who Fell From the Sky”, a programme which aired from 1978 to 1983 and played in Vietnam.

The fantasy movie represented Vietnam at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, which was held in the United States.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has assigned the Cinema Department to co-ordinate along competent agencies and centrally-run cities and provinces to organize various screenings nationwide from April 28 to May 20.

Vietnam to halt visa exemption policy for citizens from the EU and the UK

The UK and EU member nations will no longer enjoy visa-free travel to Vietnam , according to a proposal submitted to the government by the country’s steering committee on COVID-19 fighting and prevention. Vietnam will also halt its visa exemption policy for citizens of other countries outside of the EU where over 500 cases have been reported or more than 50 new infections are recorded in a single day, according to the proposal. Foreigners who have symptoms of il lness or recent travel history to areas hit by a COVID-19 outbreak will be denied entry into Vietnam . The proposal was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam as he chaired a meeting for COVID-19 prevention in Hanoi on Sunday night. Citizens of Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Belarus currently enjoy visa-free travel to Vietnam until December 31, 2022. Weaving village in the city

There are now very few families pursuing the trade, but they still try to continue preserving the brand of the traditional trade village. A golden age Few families in Bay Hien weaving village use looms. Nguyen Thi Hue, 80, is the oldest artisan and is one of very few artisans following the ups and downs of the village.
