Ho Chi Minh City to Host Inaugural River Festival

City dwellers and tourists will have the opportunity to participate in the festival at various locations, including the Saigon Cruise Port, the Bach Dang Wharf Park, the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal area, the Binh Dong Wharf, and the Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Area.

During a press conference on the festival held on July 12 in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the City Department of Tourism, announced that a wide range of activities will be held along the Saigon River to attract tourists through art performances and promotional programs. These efforts aim to stimulate consumer demand during the peak summer season.

The festival will feature an art program at the Saigon Cruise Port on the evening of August 6 with the participation of 700 artists, serving as the highlight of the event.

In addition, travel companies will showcase their products and services to domestic and international tourists through tourism fairs at the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal area and the Binh Dong Wharf.

The Bach Dang Wharf Park will host a boat racing competition and also feature cultural and artistic activities and traditional games.

A street parade and art performances will be held to showcase various intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam recognized by UNESCO, and there will also be lighting decorations along the wharfs.

Vietnam to halt visa exemption policy for citizens from the EU and the UK

The UK and EU member nations will no longer enjoy visa-free travel to Vietnam , according to a proposal submitted to the government by the country’s steering committee on COVID-19 fighting and prevention. Vietnam will also halt its visa exemption policy for citizens of other countries outside of the EU where over 500 cases have been reported or more than 50 new infections are recorded in a single day, according to the proposal. Foreigners who have symptoms of il lness or recent travel history to areas hit by a COVID-19 outbreak will be denied entry into Vietnam . The proposal was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam as he chaired a meeting for COVID-19 prevention in Hanoi on Sunday night. Citizens of Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Belarus currently enjoy visa-free travel to Vietnam until December 31, 2022. Weaving village in the city
