Volunteers Bring Joy to Laotian Students by Transforming Classrooms and Building a Playground

The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union’s summer volunteer campaign in Laos included a special activity: transforming classrooms and building a playground for students in Attapeu Province.

Truong Tan Nghiep, who led the group of volunteers, shared the significance of their efforts: “The renovated classrooms and new playground are our gifts to the students of Laos. We wanted to provide a spacious and enjoyable environment for them to play and learn.”

The volunteers’ impact extended beyond the physical improvements. Nguyen Manh Cuong, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, presented backpacks to Laotian students, further enhancing their educational experience.

Culivong Cotnuxon, representing the Education and Sports Division in Samakkixay, expressed his appreciation for the meaningful contributions. He shared his hopes for continued support from Vietnamese youth in the future.

Among the volunteers was Tran Thi Hoa Ha, a first-time participant from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts. Ha spent a week in Laos, using her artistic talents to brighten up the elementary school’s classrooms with vibrant wall paintings.

In addition to her creative contributions, Ha, along with her fellow volunteers, distributed medicines and gifts to those in need, embodying the spirit of giving and cross-border solidarity.

“It was a wonderful experience to be able to help the students and local community in Laos,” shared Ha, who plans to continue her volunteer journey by participating in more programs to support children in the country.

The group from Ho Chi Minh City also distributed 50 backpacks to disadvantaged children, ensuring they have the tools necessary for their educational journey.

A team of 120 volunteers, including nurses, doctors, and university lecturers, embarked on this mission to Laos on June 15, leaving a lasting impact of kindness and friendship.
